At Wealth Matters Consulting, we often encourage advisors to launch podcasts—and we understand the hesitation that comes with that. It’s why, in this edition of The 3 Minute Marketer, we’re sharing our own experience launching The Wealth Horizon podcast.

The 3 Minute Marketer is your go-to resource for practical marketing tips designed for wealth management firms. We provide strategic insights to enhance your marketing plans, helping you attract high-net-worth clients, improve client retention and boost your firm’s credibility.

Today’s episode goes deeper than usual, but for good reason: we’re breaking down the podcasting process and walking you through the who, what, where, when, why—and how—of launching your own.

Who is your podcast for?

Our podcast is designed for advisors. But your audience might include clients, prospects or centers of influence. Step one is defining your “who”—Who do you want to reach and why?

What are you talking about?

The Wealth Horizon focuses on practical insights that advisors can implement to grow their businesses, like marketing strategies, growth tactics and expert conversations. Your “what” might be investment commentary, estate planning updates or market alerts. The key is clarity. Listeners should know exactly what to expect when they tune in.

When should you release episodes?

Our podcast started with a monthly cadence but then moved to bi-weekly to keep up with the conversations we wanted to share. Many advisors find monthly episodes sustainable. Choose a rhythm that matches your capacity—and stick to it.

Where do you record?

No studio required. We use a quality mic, a computer and SquadCast to capture audio and video. Most advisors start with audio-only, which is very effective. Keep it simple and focus on consistency over polish.

Why launch a podcast?

For us, launching our podcast was about scale. We’re already having daily strategic conversations with advisors and industry experts. Wealth Horizon allows us to share those insights more broadly and provide value in a scalable way. Your “why” should connect to your firm’s mission, and podcasting can be a natural extension of the thought leadership you already provide.

How do you actually make it happen?

We work with a professional team, but many of our advisor partners do it solo. If it feels intimidating, you’re not alone. For us, the biggest hurdle was simply starting. Once we did, it felt like a natural extension of the work we already do.

If you’ve been waiting for the “perfect” moment to start, this is it. And if you’d like support along the way, we’re here to help.  Contact us today!
